Donna Pescow
Donna Pescow (born March 24, 1954 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American actress and television director.
life and career
Donna Pescow was born into a Jewish family in Brooklyn; one of her extended relatives was the film legend Theda Bara . She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and took on minor theater roles until she was best known for the film Saturday Night Fever in 1977 . In this, as party-goer Annette, she vies in vain for John Travolta's main character. She had to audition a total of six times for the role, but ultimately she received a nomination for the New York Film Critics Circle Award and the film's surprise success gave her career a boost. She then played the title character of an Italian-American waitress in the television series Angie . Although the series existed only a year, she received it in 1980 was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Television Series Actress - Comedy or Musical .
In the 1980s, Pescow starred on All My Children as Dr. Lynn Carson became the first major lesbian character in a US soap opera. From 1987 to 1991 she was the mother of the main character in the children's series My Father is an Alien . After a number of minor roles in the 1990s, she played from 2000 to 2003 in the popular Disney television series Eben ein Stevens at the side of Shia LaBeouf . The role Eileen Stevens , a successful politician and mother of three, earned her three Emmy Award nominations . Since then she has mostly taken on guest roles on television, including appearing in the final episode of the hit series The Sopranos . Since 2017, she has had a recurring role as couples therapist Sharon Finkel on the television series The Flash .
In parallel with acting, Pescow has directed individual episodes of three television series. She has been married to Arnold Shepard Zelonka since 1987 and the couple have one son.
