Donndorf (noble family)
Donndorf is the name of several noble families.
The family name Donndorf
The name Donndorf is relatively rare and occurs predominantly in central Germany. Well-known namesake were Gotthold Donndorf (1887–1968), pastor and head of the Rauhen Haus in Hamburg , Adolf von Donndorf (1835–1916) and Karl Donndorf (1870–1941).
A distinction is made between the Thuringian and Franconian families of Donndorf. A relationship is possible (similar to the Lüchau family, for example ), but it has not been proven.

In the Middle Ages, the castle of the von Donndorf family was located where the Fantaisie Castle is today . The family has been occupied since 1398. In the Bayreuth district there are traces of the family with the castle stable in Gossenreuth (1429–1497), the knight's seat in Mengersreuth (1429) and in Windischenlaibach .

The spouses moved to Trausnitz and managed the estate. After a dispute with the co-heirs, Trausnitz was sold in 1714.
