The rigid inflatable boat Dora , until the end of 2007 Rescue Uecker , was a sea rescue boat of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS).

The boat was manufactured under the construction number 2003-004 by the MST shipyard in Liverpool , England and was called RIB 1 internally by DGzRS. The call sign of the boat was DJ8068.

The Dora was designed as a self-righting device and, in the event of an emergency, was manned by 2-3 volunteer rescue men.

Due to the shallow draft , the boat was particularly suitable for use in the shallow water and reed areas of the Oderhaff . Here mainly fall water sports enthusiasts and anglers in distress . Due to the high speed of the boat (about 37 knots ), the boat could also be used to transport doctors to passenger ships on the Oderhaff.

The rescue equipment of the Dora included material for medical first aid, means for fighting fires and leaks as well as a device for towing smaller watercraft. Except for a radar, it was equipped with the usual radio and navigation technology. It was designed to last up to 3 hours at top speed.

Dora at the berth in Ueckermuende

The boat was stationed in Ueckermünde from April 14, 2003 , using a small crane it could be quickly launched into the water if necessary.

On November 16, 2007, at the request of a donor, the boat was christened Dora . The donor Frieda Ahlers from Verden (Aller), who died in April 2007, had previously donated her estate to the DGzRS. Dora was her mother's name.

On the night of August 29th to 30th, 2018, the boat was stolen by strangers at the berth in Ueckermünde. In the meantime, the boat has been removed from the fleet list and has finally been deregistered
