Dora Horn-Zippelius

Dora Horn-Zippelius , b. Dora Horn (born August 28, 1876 in Karlsruhe , † February 17, 1967 there ) was a German painter . In 1912 she founded the Association of Badischer Künstlerinnen in Karlsruhe together with the sculptor Eugenie Kaufmann .

Live and act

Dora Horn was the only child of the Karlsruhe lawyer Dr. Arnold Horn and his wife Emma, ​​née Sexauer. In 1897 Dora began her training at the Karlsruhe School of Painting , today's State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe , with Otto Kemmer and Caspar Ritter . At the women's academy of the Munich Artists' Association , she continued her studies in Munich with Angelo Jank . In 1904 and 1905 Dora Horn took part in several large art exhibitions and in the following years also worked as an actress on various stages, primarily in Hagen .

Dora Horn married the architect Johann Adam (Hans) Zippelius (1873–1958) in 1909 . The marriage had two children; the younger of her two sons was the folklorist Adelhart Zippelius .

In 1912, Dora Horn-Zippelius and the sculptor Eugenie Kaufmann founded the Association of Badischer Künstlerinnen (BBK) in Karlsruhe and was its chairman and delegate until it was dissolved in 1935.

As a member of the Karlsruhe Artists Association , Dora Horn-Zippelius took part in an art exhibition in Hamburg in the summer of 1916 . In 1921 she exhibited her works at the German Art Exhibition in Baden-Baden . In November 1933 a special exhibition of the Association of Badischer Künstlerinnen took place in the Badischer Kunstverein .

During the time of National Socialism , Dora Horn-Zippelius was NS propaganda director and regional training director for the NS women's association in Baden .

Dora Horn-Zippelius died in Karlsruhe in 1967.
As a person of Baden history, she is listed in the new series of the biographical publication series Badische Biographien , which was published on behalf of the Commission for historical regional studies in Baden-Württemberg .
