The Dorbach (originally Dürrbach ) is a 4 km long flowing water in Aachen . It is a left tributary of the torrent .

course

The Dorbach rises in Friedrichswald near Gemmenicher Weg above the Reinartzkehl riding stables. Past Gut Melaten , it flows over the rear Rabentalwiesen towards Seffent , where it flows into the torrent , a tributary of the Wurm, just after Sieben Quellen .

Stream straightening and renaturation

During the construction of the Aachen clinic , its course was massively changed and partially straightened along the Schneebergweg road and the property boundaries of Gut Melaten before the impact into the Rabentalwiesen. As a result, the Melaten-based Freundeskreis Botanischer Garten e.V. took over the area where the Dorbach flows through the rear Rabental. V., tenant of Gut Melaten and the Rabentalwiesen, took the sponsorship and had it renaturalized for the first time in 2003 and 2004 with students from the Alsdorf European School on the occasion of a project .

In 2017, a further renaturation was considered, this time to affect the 200 meter long straightened bypass road along the Schneebergweg. The final decision and its implementation is still pending and is in the catalog of the implementation measures downtown Concept 2022 has been added
