The Evangelical Lutheran village church in Bettingerode , a district of Bad Harzburg , is on the main street. A sign on the portal says that it was built around 1200 and is "the oldest building in the Bad Harzburg district".

Since January 1, 2017, the Bettingerode parish, together with the neighboring parishes in Westerode , Lochtum , Immenrode , Weddingen , Lengde and Wiedelah, have been part of the parish association between Harz and Harly based in Vienenburg in the provost of Bad Harzburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig .

history

Bettingeroder Church was spared during the Thirty Years' War . In 1666–1669 the choir was added and a tower was added. The roof has been renewed. In 1706 the interior was repainted. The interior was completely renovated in 1964 and 1965 , and the old painting was lost. The wooden altar wall was removed and the pews replaced. This makes the church look modern, but it does not correspond to today's tastes.

Building description

The Romanesque stone church is a hall church that is covered with a gable roof. The three parts of the tent roof drop from the ridge to the eaves above the eastern triangle . Inside, the apse is semicircular. A church tower is presented to the west of the nave , the pyramidal roof of which is a pointed, octagonal helmet . In the area of ​​the pyramid roof is the tower clock , on the outside of the church tower, in front of the helmet, hangs a small bell , which is dated to the 12th century. In 1659 the church got a new bell.
