Dannefeld village church

The village church Dannefeld is the Protestant church of the village Dannefeld in Drömling in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The church was built in 1774 at the time of the Drömling's water technical regulation. Amelie Sack from the German Foundation for Monument Protection points out that she is “typical of a number of sacred buildings in Dröming that were built around the same time ”. It was rebuilt around 1900. In the process, however, technical errors arose, which in the beginning of the 21st century ultimately led to the building threatening to collapse. The renovation of the church tower began in 2019 ; then the nave is to be repaired.

Building description

The nave and tower were built in half-timbered construction. The ship has a three-sided east end. The tower on the west side was built on a square floor plan. The west wall of the tower has meanwhile been completely renewed. In the church there is a bronze bell that was created in 1766 by Master Behrens from Salzwedel .

Inside there is a gallery on the west side . The ceiling was designed as a hollow ceiling .

Furnishing

A carved altarpiece from the first quarter of the 16th century is remarkable. This was acquired from Calvörde in 1613 . In the center shrine, Our Lady is depicted in a halo, surrounded by angels. The Saints Saint George , probably Saint Kunigunde , Saint Christophorus and Saint Catherine are depicted around them . In the wings of the altar there are images of the twelve apostles . Remnants of passion scenes can still be seen on the outside .

The ornate pulpit in the Baroque style dates from 1662 and bears the coat of arms of the town of Gardelegen . The also baroque baptismal angel was created at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century. An Altmark peasant flag dates from 1675.

The organ was created in 1883 by August Troch from Neuhaldensleben .

The driveway to the churchyard is flanked by pillars made of sandstone , in which reliefs and matching Bible verses are carved.
