Fresdorf village church

The Protestant village church Fresdorf is a sacred building from 1724 in Fresdorf , a district of the Michendorf municipality in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the Evangelical Church Congregation Stücken in the church district Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

location

The church is located directly on Luckenwalder Straße , which at this point leads in an arc to the east when coming from the north.

history

Fresdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1375. Investigations on the building showed that the foundation of the church was built in 1724 on a previous building made of field stones . In the years 1852 to 1854 the enlarged church window, caught the west tower and replaced pieces of equipment. Another consecration took place on April 18, 1854. In 1899 the court carpenter Max André from Potsdam painted the building. In 1910 the steeple had to be renewed. In the tower ball , workers found some coins from the time of Frederick the Great . The painting was restored in 1993 and 1995 at the same time as the roof was renovated. In 2000 experts repaired the organ for 10,000 DM . In 2002 and 2003, residents from Fresdorf reconstructed the cemetery wall.

Building description

The structure is kept comparatively simple: the entire structure is plastered ; there are three arched windows on the north and south sides of the nave. The choir wall is also plastered, followed by the recessed, circular apse with a conical roof. There is a small, circular opening in the choir gable . The square and recessed west tower also has a portal in the shape of a round arch. At the level of the eaves of the nave, there is a small window on each accessible side with a circular screen above . This is followed by a blunt pyramid roof with a roof turret, in which a sound arcade can be seen on each side . Another, steeper pyramid roof with a tower ball and cross follows .

Furnishing

Memorial to the Fallen

The pulpit is from the beginning of the 18th century. In the interior, a plaque commemorates the fallen from the Wars of Liberation and a fallen man who fell when Prussian troops captured the island of Alsen during the German-Danish War in 1864.

The area is enclosed by a brick wall. A memorial commemorates the fallen from World War II , a boulder to the local poet Hermann Thomas (1855–1931).

organ

In 1890, the Potsdam organ builder Carl Eduard Gesell built an organ with nine registers , a manual and a pedal .

Bells

Two bells hang in the tower: one made of bronze without a date and another bell made of steel, which was made in the bell foundry in Apolda in 1952 . They received an electric drive on May 6, 2015.
