history

There are two different representations of the origin of the field stone hall. On the one hand, it is assumed that the foundation walls come from a previous building from the 13th century. Dehio names the second half of the 15th century as the likely period for its construction.

The church burned down to the ground in 1604. After the fire, the flat ceiling and the roof were placed on a semicircular east end. Dehio suspects that the tower was built at the same time. Around 1900 there was still a weather vane on the roof of the tower with the year 1749, on the east gable there was a rooster above a metal ball with the year 1736.

The tower was restored until 2009. The roof and supporting structure was damaged by penetrating moisture and the stability of the tower was endangered, so that it was no longer possible to ring the bells. During the work, around 90% of the materials turned out to be weathered, ailing oak stems were replaced, the foundation and roof renewed. In further construction phases, work will be carried out on the roof, east gable and entrance area of the church.

Building description

The single-nave stone building has a semicircular east end, pointed arched windows, a flat wooden and beamed ceiling and a gable roof with half-timbered gables . The gable protruding to the east is supported by two wooden pillars. In the south of the Feldstein Hall there is a half-timbered extension with a gable roof used as an entrance. The west tower is half-timbered, the upper floor is boarded up. On the tower sits a pyramid roof with a four - sided half - timbered lantern, which is also crowned with a pyramid roof. The top is formed by a metal ball, a weather vane from 2009 and a cross. A metal ball also sits on the east end of the church roof.

The church and the dry stone wall surrounding the churchyard are under monument protection.

Furnishing

For equipment of the church, an altar is one of a triptych and carving from the ending 15th century. Depicted in the middle is St. Mary with the Christ Child , St. Nicholas on the left and St. Catherine on the right . There is a triumphal cross above the crown . Further facilities include a Renaissance - pulpit of 1598 with representations of the four evangelists , a wooden baptism of the 17th century, three carvings on the north wall, a epitaph for the 1685 deceased Pastor Christian Fanter and an organ to set up.

Friedrich Schlie mentions two bells around 1900: the one that still exists today with a diameter of 99 cm, which was cast by Lorenz Strahlborn in Lübeck in 1741 , and the second with a diameter of 65 cm from 1863.
