Kemlitz village church

The Protestant village church Kemlitz is a field stone church in Kemlitz , a part of the municipality of Groß Ziescht , a district of the city of Baruth / Mark in the district of Teltow-Fläming in Brandenburg .

history

Little is known about the history of the Gothic structure. The type and execution of the construction suggest that the church was built around 1300. The wooden tower tower must have been built at a later date. Most of the formerly pointed arched openings have been redesigned in baroque style. In the 21st century it is used not only for church services but also for art exhibitions.

architecture

The sacred building was built as a hall church with a rectangular floor plan made of field stones . These are not very well carved and are relatively evenly layered in the lower part of the nave . The lines run in the upper third. Subsequent changes can sometimes be seen, for example on the southern church wall. There is a large, beehive-shaped window to the west, the shape of which is emphasized again by a lightly plastered bottle . To the right of this opening is a large, ogival gate made of masonry and hewn reading stones. In the further course towards the east, the two other windows become significantly smaller, albeit with a similar design language. Between the second and third windows there is a priest's gate made of also hewn reading stones, which is decorated with a chessboard stone. These openings are missing on the north wall of the nave. Here there are two much smaller windows that were also changed at a later point in time. The choir wall was also built entirely from unevenly layered field stones. The two outer ones of the former three-window group were also reshaped in Baroque style, while the middle one has been preserved in its original pointed arch shape. The lower half of the square west tower also consists of field stones, which were processed largely uncut and without layers. It turns into a boarded tower in which small, rectangular wooden sound arcades are embedded. The tower and nave have a simple gable roof .

Furnishing

In the flat-roofed interior there is simple wooden furnishings, most of which date from the 18th century, while the horseshoe gallery was made in the 17th century. One church leader even gives the 16th century as the period of their creation. The pulpit is white and decorated with biblical motifs. There is a sound cover above it . The altarpiece , which shows the Lord's Supper in the predella and above it the crucifixion of Christ , is made in the same color . The pictures are framed by pillars painted in red and decorated with acanthus . The reredos conclude with a blown gable that frames a sun. The stone fifth is painted white and decorated with golden putti , which are framed by floral elements in the base. The organ is a work by Alexander Schuke from 1912 with six registers on a manual and pedal .
