The Rabis village church is located in the Rabis district of the municipality of Schlöben in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

location

The solitary church is centrally located in the district and is very easy to reach. Only the residents of the former Fraitsch Vorwerk have another way to go.

history

The place Rabis had an eventful history due to its location in Jena . Until the Reformation he still belonged to the Naumburg deanery . So in 1546 Rabis was attached to Drackendorf near Jena and in 1640 was added to the parish of Schlöben. After that the church belonged to Schöngleina . Meanwhile, it belongs to the parish Schöngleina-Schlöben in Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The church

The hall church was built in 1676/1677 with three-sided galleries . In 1842 the west tower was built in place of the wooden tower. 1983–1986 a thorough restoration of the interior and roof took place. The sacristy , which was added in the 17th century , was demolished because it was dilapidated. In the nave , boards, beams and the ceiling were painted with tendrils and marbling . The organ was installed in 1809. The pulpit followed in 1820 .

The bell that was melted down during the World War was replaced in 1958.
