description

The small, rectangular hall church was rebuilt in 1709 in place of the medieval former pilgrimage church of St. Michael of the Saalfeld Benedictine Abbey . The nave is covered with a slate mansard roof, from which a roof tower rises, on which an open lantern sits. The interior has two-story galleries and is covered with a flat ceiling supported by coves . The choir was stenciled during the turn of the century . The church furnishings include a large number of late medieval figures, the original purpose of which has not yet been clarified. The narrow pulpit altar dates from the 18th century. The altar retable from around 1508 on the altar hall is attributed to the Saalfeld school . The shrine in the middle shows Anna herself, the third, against a painted background. To the side of her are the saints Joseph and Joachim and thus the most important figures of the holy clan . The wings today consist of the panel paintings on the former exterior with Peter on the left and Paul on the right. On the northern side wall of the choir there is a small protective mantle Madonna , which was created around 1515. Next to it is the shrine of a former winged altar with the figures of St. Catherine , Margareta and Dorothea , carved around 1508 in the Saalfeld school. The opposite man of Sorrows from around 1515 also comes from the Saalfeld school. On the east wall is a Pietà from the 3rd quarter of the 14th century. Only the whitish primer remains from the former version . The same applies to the torso of a Madonna standing next to it . Next to the pulpit altar stands a life-size Maria with child , created around 1510 in a Franconian workshop for carvers .
