History and architecture
The church stands on a cemetery surrounded by a dry stone wall.
The building was erected in the middle of the 13th century. The nave , choir and sacristy are largely made of field stones. The choir of the two-aisled church has moved in, the sacristy is in the north. Mighty pillars were subsequently added to the choir. During the renovation from 1860 to 1867, the east gables were replaced with remains of the original structure. The arrangement and shape of the windows has been changed several times. The older Romanesque, pointed arched slit windows are set deep into the walls with brick frames. The simple ship portal in the north was added, the one in the south is more elaborately designed. In the south vestibule, which is probably still medieval, is the priest's gate, with stepped cloaks and set round bars and capitals . The richly profiled west portal has moved out of the axis to the south; it was partially overlapped when the tower was added. Instead of the originally planned vaulting of the nave, a star vault of three bays was drawn in around 1500 . It rests on two octagonal pillars with round corner bars and on brackets on the walls. The triumphal arch between the choir and nave is a deeply drawn arched arch . The ribbed vault in the choir was originally designed in the shape of a dome. The domed vault in the sacristy is decorated with period paintings, such as ornaments and symbols of Christ. The window paintings were done from 1863 to 1864. On the north side symbols of the believing soul are depicted, opposite are symbols of Christ. The windows in the choir show the apostles Peter and Paul.
tower
The huge, rectangular west tower was added in 1495 in brick ; it gives the church an imposing, defensive appearance. On the bell floor, it is divided by round-arched plaster panels and smaller round-arched windows that are deeply embedded in brick panels. The upper floor and the pointed helmet burned down in 1711, after which the tower was rebuilt with a height of 32 meters.
