Dorfrock (Schmadebeck)
The village rock in Schmadebeck near Kröpelin has been an annual event since 1996 as part of the two-day village festival and represents a center of regional, village culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Mainly well-known bands and musicians from the former GDR , but now also from all over Germany , have performed here since 1996. The village rock in Schmadebeck is of particular importance as a platform for the performance of young regional musicians who are on stage alongside the established bands. The organizer is the Land-Projekt-Gemeinschaft Schmadebeck e. V. (LPG).
In order to maintain the character of the event as a village rock as part of the village festival, the event is only advertised to a limited extent and the number of spectators is usually between 500 and 1,000. An exception so far was the appearance of the Puhdys in 2004 with their own stage on the occasion of their 35th stage anniversary, which was followed by around 4,000 spectators.
The village rock in Schmadebeck gained further importance with the establishment of the Ostrock Museum in Kröpelin, which opened on the occasion of the 20th village rock on July 3, 2015.
