Dorothea Alewell

Dorothea Alewell (born August 10, 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German business economist and professor of business administration (BWL), in particular human resources management, at the business administration faculty of the University of Hamburg .

Life

Dorothea Alewell graduated from high school in 1983. From 1983 to 1988 she completed a degree in business administration at the University of Hamburg, where she obtained a degree in business administration (Dipl.-Kffr.). From 1988 to 1989 he studied at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in the United States of America (USA).

From 1989 to 1993 Alewell found a job as a research assistant with Willi Küpper at the Chair of Human Resource Management and General Business Administration (ABWL) at the University of Hamburg. In 1992 she achieved her doctorate with summa cum laude . The topic of the dissertation was internal labor markets. An information economic analysis .

From 1993 to 1996 she worked as a research assistant at Willi Küpper. From 1996 to 1997 Dorothea Alewell took over the representation of the C3 professorship for corporate management / human resource management at the Technical University of Ilmenau . In 1997 she completed her habilitation . The topic of the habilitation thesis was Financing of in-company training. Economic and legal aspects . From April 1997, a substitute professorship for general business administration, in particular human resource management and organization, followed at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . From July to September 2007 Alewell was professor and holder of the chair for general business administration, in particular human resource management and organization at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

In April 2000 she received the Wolfgang Ritter Prize 2000 for her habilitation thesis. In September 2001, she turned down a call to the University of Vienna for the Chair of Business Administration X / Personnel .

Since October 2007 Dorothea Alewell has been a full university professor and holder of the chair for general business administration, in particular human resources management, at the University of Hamburg.

Research priorities

Her current research projects are gender stereotypes and religion in the workplace.

Completed research projects are separation management and personnel services and company employment systems.
