Dorothee Röseberg (born May 27, 1951 in Caputh near Potsdam ) is a German Romance philologist and professor of cultural studies as well as cultural and educational history for Romance countries.

Life

Dorothee Röseberg was born in Caputh near Potsdam. She attended school from 1957 to 1969 in East Berlin and, after 12 years of training, she graduated from high school and completed vocational training as a commercial clerk. From 1969 to 1973 she completed her studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin (HUB) in the field of qualified subject teacher for French and Russian , from which she graduated in 1973 with the state examination and diploma .

She started her career from 1973 to 1977 in the practical school service in Berlin. After that, from 1977 to 1981, she did an academic traineeship at the Romance Studies section of the HUB. In 1982 she received her doctorate as Dr. phil. with a thesis on the "French youth movement and youth policy of the FKP since 1968".

From 1981 to March 1994 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Romance Studies at the HUB, where she took on teaching and research in the field of regional and cultural studies in France. In 1990 she acquired the teaching qualification ( Facultas Docendi ) for the field of literary and cultural history of France. In 1991 she completed her habilitation (doctorate B) to become a Dr. sc. phil. with a thesis on the "Functional History of French Literature in the Educational History of French Elites (18th-20th Centuries)". Then from March 1994 to October 1994 she was a Heisenberg fellow of the German Research Foundation with teaching duties at the University of Potsdam .

In 1994 she was appointed professor (C3) at Chemnitz University of Technology and worked here in the field of "Regional Studies and Culture of the Romance Countries". Since 1997 she has been Professor (C4) for Romance Studies and Cultural Studies (focus on France ) at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg .

In 2002 she developed the conception and designed the establishment of the interdisciplinary course "Intercultural Europe and America - Studies" and the "binational course IKEAS / LEA with the University of Paris Nanterre". Since then she has been the program officer for the binational course. Since 2007 she has been an associated scientist in the state research focus “Enlightenment - Religion - Knowledge. Transformations of the Religious and the Rational in Modernity ”.

Since 2010 she has been working as a scientific supervisor in the graduate school of the same name of the Network of Excellence. At the same time, she became an expert reviewer at Acquin within the framework of the national accreditation procedures for social sciences and humanities courses.

Röseberg was elected a member of the learned society Leibniz Society of Sciences in Berlin in 2011, is a member of its presidium and has been vice-president since 2016 .

Röseberg is married and has two grown children.

• 2015 Award by the Republic of France: Dorothee Röseberg has been honored with a high distinction by the French state. She was awarded the "Palmes Académiques in the Officer's Class" by the Prime Minister of the Republic of France. This honorary gift, donated in 1808, has been given to outstanding scientists, artists and university lecturers ever since. Our neighboring French country is thus honoring the services that Dorothee Röseberg has made in researching and spreading French culture in Germany through her research, publications and academic teaching. But it also recognizes her work for Franco-German cooperation, especially in the cultural and university-political area.
