Dosing calendar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the dosing calendar , the so-called dosing days , also called block clearance dates, are recorded.

On these dosing days, truck block handling is carried out on the A12 Inntal motorway in the area of the Kufstein / Kiefersfelden border crossing on Austrian territory at the “Kufstein Nord” junction in the direction of Innsbruck .

Each specially set up for this dosing days checkpoint ( checkpoint ) must then pass around 200 up to 300 trucks per hour. A specially equipped mobile roll-off container has been in use since July 2, 2018 . From February 2020, an automated dosing system was also installed that can be activated automatically when there is a high volume of traffic . There are also particular traffic lights , LED - variable message signs and video surveillance , which are installed at different sites, are used. This 1.35 million euro system was used for the first time on March 9, 2020.

The control activity is carried out by the Austrian police and usually begins at around 5 a.m. and ends in the course of the morning as soon as the greatest number of trucks has passed. The average block handling time is around 4 hours per dosing day.

The dosage is intended to avoid a traffic blackout along the A12 Inntal and A13 Brenner autobahns, protect the environment and the health of the population, and maintain traffic and supply security along this route. Emergency trips by blue light organizations should also remain feasible. Despite the slowdown, the free movement of goods should be affected as little as possible.

In addition, the alternative traffic on the subordinate road network is to be minimized, which is why, in summer 2019, temporary driving bans for all vehicles - with the exception of destination, source and local traffic -  were introduced on several lower-ranking Tyrolean roads.

Increasing truck transit traffic is seen as the main cause of the problems . The likelihood of congestion increases, especially on days with increased truck traffic combined with increased commuter or holiday traffic. By means of truck dosing, the peaks in truck traffic can be capped by stretching the truck trips.

The block clearances repeatedly cause criticism from Tyrol's neighbors; especially from Bavaria and South Tyrol / Trentino one complains z. B. because of delays and backlogs .

Creation

The dosing calendar was developed jointly by the Tyrolean provincial government , the Austrian police and ASFINAG .

To determine the dosage days, days with an increased risk of a traffic collapse were identified. For this purpose, experience from the recent past was used and the traffic volume in the period from September 2016 to February 2018 for the 2018 dispensing calendar and the traffic volume for the current year 2018 for the dispensing calendar for the first half of 2019 were also analyzed.

Depending on how heavy traffic develops over the course of the year, there may also be subsequent changes to the previously fixed dosing days.

purpose

The dosing calendar is used for the transparent and early announcement of the dosing days. It is intended to allow all road users , in particular freighters , to plan their journeys (towards the south) on the A12 Inntal and A13 Brenner autobahn over the long term and ensure that the traffic metering is EU- compliant.
