Dossey (also: Dosey , Dosseye ) is a village in the municipality of Birni-N'Konni in Niger .

The village, run by a traditional chief ( chef traditionnel ), is located about nine kilometers northwest of the city center of Birni-N'Konni, the capital of the Birni-N'Konni department in the Tahoua region . Dossey is on the shores of a permanent lake. In the surrounding landscape there is a large dry valley and a rocky plateau.

Dossey was founded in the 18th century. According to tradition, the Dossey lake was still surrounded by dense vegetation made up of Anogeissus leiocarpa and Mitragyna inermis at that time . With the beginning of the jihad of the Fulbe, initiated by Usman dan Fodio in 1804, the area became the target of many fleeing farmers. Dossey was one of the villages outside of the Azna center in Massalata, where the traditional religious practices of the Azna in the Islamic environment of Niger could last the longest.

At the 2012 census, Dossey had 6,968 inhabitants who lived in 1,110 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 5,316 in 845 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 4,373 in 860 households.

There is a bus connection between the center of Birni-N'Konni and Dossey.
