Douglas "Doug" Murray (born January 16, 1967 in Fort William , Ontario ; † September 2, 2013 in Canada) was a German - Canadian ice hockey player who worked as a striker at BSchC Prussia , EC Bad Nauheim and the Harzer Wölfen, among others played.

Career

Doug Murray began his career as a hockey player on the team at St. Lawrence University , for which he was active from 1986 to 1990 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He then played from 1990 to 1995 for the EC Harz / Braunlage , only interrupted by eight games for the ESC Wedemark in 1994. Between 1995 and 1998 Murray was active for the successor club EHC Braunlage .

After a season at EC Bad Nauheim in the 1st Bundesliga, the native Canadian returned to the Harzer Wölfen in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1999/2000 season , in which he then played for his former club from Bad Nauheim until 2004. This was followed by one season each in the major league at BSchC Prussia and ETC Crimmitschau . Most recently, he stormed in the 2007/08 season for ECC Preussen Juniors Berlin in the Regionalliga , after having been on the ice for FASS Berlin and the Harzer Wölfe Braunlage in the Regionalliga. For years, Murray was one of the most constant scorers in the 2nd Bundesliga and is one of the "Top Ten" in the "Eternal Scorers List" of the same.

For personal reasons, Doug Murray ended his career with the ECC Preussen Juniors at the beginning of the 2008/09 season. He completed a long successful career by winning the regional league championship.

Private

Murray was married with two children. In 2013 he died of heart failure in Canada.
