The A 72 towards Chemnitz am Dreieck |
The motorway triangle Hochfranken (abbreviation: AD Hochfranken ; short form: Dreieck Hochfranken ) is a motorway triangle on the A 72 and the A 93 , which begins here, and connects the Regensburg region and southern Bavaria with the Chemnitz , Dresden and Leipzig regions . It is located in the far north-east of Bavaria in the Hochfranken region , after which it is named. The triangle lies in the municipality of Trogen in the district of Hof .
The Hochfranken triangle was officially opened to traffic on December 15, 2000, after having been planned since 1992 and built since 1996. With its construction, the congestion-prone route on the nearby B 15 was also relieved. The motorway triangle made the A 93 an alternative to the neighboring A 9 for traffic between Bavaria and the new federal states.
