The Holy Trinity Church ( Serbian : Црква Свете Тројице, Crkva Svete Trojice ) in the Opština (municipality) Bijeljina belonging village Ljeljenča is a Serbian Orthodox church in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The church, built from 2000 to 2008, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity . It is the parish church of the Ljeljenča parish in the Bijeljina deanery of the Zvornik - Tuzla eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church .

location

The Trinity Church is located in the center of the village of Ljeljenča, which has around 970 inhabitants. Ljeljenča lies in the plain of the Semberija , about ten kilometers northwest of the municipality capital Bijeljina. The river Ljeljenačka Dašnica flows through Ljeljenča.

The municipality of Bijeljina is located in the Republika Srpska , one of the two entities in the country with a predominantly Serbian population.

The church is surrounded by the fenced churchyard in which the rectory is located. The rectory, the Svetosavski parohijski dom with the dimensions 14.5 × 9 m was built in 2004. There is a large ballroom on the ground floor and the apartment of the priest and his family on the first floor.

There are four Serbian Orthodox cemeteries in the Ljeljenča parish, two of them in Ljeljenča itself and one each in the neighboring villages: Brijesnica and Čađavica Srednja .

The parish church in the village of Obarska Bukovica also belongs to the Ljeljenča parish . The Church of St. Great Martyr Prokopios was built between 2006 and 2010.

history

The parish of Ljeljenča was founded in 1999, and the parish registers have also been kept since 1999. The Ljeljenča parish includes the villages of Ljeljenča, Čađavica Srednja, Obarska Bukovica and Brijesnica.

Ktitors (donors) of the church are: Đuro Đukić (godfather of the church foundations), Stanko Ivanić, Joco-Mićo Stevanović, Dragan Savić (godfather of the church bell), Slavko Krstić, Milan Lazarević and Milan and Živan Josipović. Most of the caterers live in the village of Ljeljenča itself and in the town of Bijeljina.

The construction of the Holy Trinity Church began in 2000. The church was built according to the design of the architect Đurđije Đukić from Bijeljina. The foundations of the church were consecrated on June 21, 2000 by the then episcope of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy.

The construction work on the church building was completed in 2008. On September 7, 2008, after eight years of construction, the church was solemnly consecrated by the Episcope Vasilije (Kačavenda).

The single-nave church was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style , with an altar - apse in the east and a steeple with a church bell and entrance portal in the west. The church was built from small bricks, the roof is also covered with bricks. The church has the dimensions 17.5 × 8.5 m.

The facade of the church is kept simple in white. The entrance to the church is on the west side and there is a second entrance on the south side of the church. Above the entrance there is a large patronage icon depicting the Holy Trinity.

The Trinity Church is currently being painted with Byzantine frescoes by Siniša Budimir from Bijeljina. The iconostasis from Slavonian oak was carved by Boro Danilović from the Serbian city of Čačak . The icons were also painted by Goran Pešić from Čačak.

Priest of the parish of Ljeljenča

From 1999 to 2008 Žiko Mićanović was the priest of the Trinity Church. Siniša Pajkanović has been the acting priest of the church and parish since 2008.
