Jundollah ( Arabic جندالله, DMG Ǧundallāh  'Soldiers of God', also Jundallah , English transcribed Jundallah ) is according to the State Department of the United States a Sunni - Islamist terrorist organization in Iran , which is active in the provinces of Sistan and Balochistan . The organization, which was founded in 2002, began carrying out attacks in 2005. A spokesman for the organization spoke of 1,000 fighters who are available to her. It is close to the jihadist - Salafist terrorist organization Islamic State .

background

As it sees itself , the Jundollah is a religiously motivated rebel group that defends the interests of its oppressed Sunni fellow believers. The Jundollah are probably an offshoot of the Balochistan's liberation movement. Iran describes Jundollah as a terrorist organization and has viewed the organization as "public enemy number one" since 2007. The organization shall from Pakistan operate to and from the drug trade with opium poppy have been involved. It was repeatedly through support to Jundallah by the United States reported that the US government vigorously denies this. According to Iranian sources, employees of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad are said to have disguised themselves as employees of the CIA (“under false flags”) and recruited men from the Jundollah for attacks. Israel denies the allegations

On November 3, 2010, the Jundollah was added to the US State Department's list of foreign terrorist organizations.

leader

The leader of the Jundollah, Abdolmalek Rigi , was regarded by Iran as the governor of the al-Qaeda terror network , as it was trained in a Pakistani Koran school and allegedly fought alongside the Afghan Islamists. Like the Sunni Taliban and al-Qaida, Rigi referred to the Shiites as kuffar in his speeches . He was arrested by Iranian security forces on February 23, 2010. Rigi was said to have been on board an aircraft that flew through Iranian airspace on its way from Dubai to Kyrgyzstan . Iranian interceptors are said to have forced the machine to land in Bandar Abbas . Rigi was arrested while still on board. After his arrest, Rigi told Iranian state television that the United States had rewarded him for his actions. Whether this testimony was obtained through torture while Rigi was incarcerated in the infamous Evin Prison is uncertain In June 2010 Rigi was finally hanged. The double attack on July 15, 2010 is seen as revenge for the execution of Rigis.
