Dsjanis Rutenka ( Belarusian Дзяніс Рутэнка , Russian Денис Рутенко / Denis Rutenko, English Dzianis Rutenka ; born February 14, 1986 in Minsk , Belarusian SSR , USSR ) is a former Belarusian handball player who was mostly used on the right wing . He is the younger brother of Siarhei Rutenka .
Career
The 1.90 m tall and 84 kg heavy left-hander began playing handball in his hometown near Arkatron Minsk , where he also made his debut in the 2002/03 European Cup Winners' Cup . At the end of the season he was able to celebrate the championship and the cup. In the 2004/05 season he played in Italy for AS Conversano. He then moved to the Slovenian club RK Slovenj Gradec , with whom he reached the 3rd round in the 2006/07 EHF Cup . In 2008 he returned to his homeland to HC Dinamo Minsk . With Dinamo he won five other championships and two cup wins. Internationally, he made it to the quarter-finals of the EHF Cup 2011/12 and the second round of the EHF Champions League 2012/13 . After the failure of several sponsors, Minsk withdrew from all competitions in February 2014 and released all players. Rutenka then moved to Brest GK Meschkow , with whom he won the championship in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and the Belarusian Cup in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. After Rutenka played for SKA Minsk in the 2019/20 season, he ended his career.
With the Belarusian national team , Dzjanis Rutenka took part in the 2013 World Cup and the 2014 European Championship . So far, he has played 126 international matches in which he scored 306 goals.
