Woodrow Wilson Clarence "Woody" Dumart (born December 23, 1916 in Kitchener , Ontario , † October 19, 2001 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League from 1936 to 1954 .
Career
In his hometown of Kitchener, Woody began playing ice hockey with the Empires and the Greenshirts. In 1935 he moved to Boston, played there for the Cubs and was also allowed to go on the ice once for the Bruins in the 1935/36 season . He also spent two-thirds of the coming season with the Providence Reds and was slowly introduced to the NHL. Completely arrived in the NHL, he played in the 1936/37 season at the side of Dit Clapper and his childhood friend Milt Schmidt and took on the physical part in the series. From the next season he formed the Kraut Line together with Schmidt and Bobby Bauer , which had a significant share in the Bruins' second Stanley Cup win in 1939 . Two years later they were able to repeat this success and brought the cup back to Boston. Before the end of the following season, the entire storm line left the team and moved with the Royal Canadien Air Force into World War II . For the 1945/46 season , the three returned and strengthened the Bruins again. Dumart also took part in the first two regular All-Star Games in 1947 and 1948. In 1954 he ended his career with the Bruins.
In 1992 he was honored with the induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame .
