Dunfermline West was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of nine constituencies in the electoral region of Mid Scotland and Fife , which was redesigned as part of the constituency revision in 2011 and continues to include nine constituencies. Here the constituency of Dunfermline West was abolished. It included the city of Dunfermline and the western areas of the Council Area Fife . The areas of the former constituency have largely been absorbed into the new Dunfermline constituency . At the 2001 census survey, a total of 68,184 people lived within its borders. A deputy was sent.
