The Eastern Islands , literal translation: Eastern Islands , are a small group of islands in the Indian Ocean 70 km northwest of the western Australian coastal city of Geraldton . They belong to the Easter Group of the Houtman Abrolhos Archipelago .
The Eastern Islands form a small atoll-like structure that is separated from the rest of the Easter Group by the 1.7 km wide Eastern Passage . Including the 2.8 km north of Little North Island , the archipelago consists of about 22 islands, of which only eight are officially named.
