Eastpoint is a census-designated place (CDP) in Franklin County in the US state of Florida with a population of 2337 (as of 2010).

geography

Eastpoint is about 10 km east of the city of Apalachicola , which is reached via the John Gorrie Memorial Bridge on the other side of Apalachicola Bay . Tallahassee is about 100 km northeast. The CDP is crossed by US Highways 98 and 319 and Florida State Road 65 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 2337 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1166 households. The population density was 123 inhabitants / km². 96.9% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.1% as African American and 0.7% as Native American . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.7% to several ethnic groups. 1.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 35.4% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 28.8% of all households. 74.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 2.94.

26.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 23.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 51.6% of the population were male and 48.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 40,850, with 19.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 98.46% of the population and 1.54% spoke Spanish .

On January 23, 1975, the Porter's Bar Site was entered on the National Register of Historic Places .

Eastpoint is within the Franklin County School District . The county's central school building is the twelve-year Franklin County School located in Eastpoint.
