Eberhard Blum

Eberhard Blum (born July 28, 1919 in Kiel ; † July 9, 2003 in Stuttgart ) was President of the Federal Intelligence Service from December 27, 1982 to July 31, 1985 .

Blum served as an officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II , most recently with the rank of Rittmeister . From 1947 he worked in the Gehlen organization , the forerunner of the BND, as Gehlen 's personal advisor . From 1961 to 1964 he headed the personnel department of the BND, and then from 1964 to 1968 as resident of the service in London . From 1968 to 1970 he was head of Department IV (Administration) at the headquarters in Pullach. In 1970 he was transferred to Washington as a resident . He held this post until his appointment as President of the Authority on December 27, 1982.

Eberhard Blum was married to Gabriele von Gusmann. The marriage had three children. One son is the economist Ulrich Blum .
