Eberhard Hasche

Georg Eberhard Hasche (born November 14, 1920 in Chemnitz ; † May 21, 1973 Leipzig ) was a German surgeon . From 1958 until his death he headed the department for thoracic and cardiac surgery at the central clinic in Bad Berka, Thuringia .

Life

Eberhard Hasche, son of Anna Hasche (1896–1980), née Eckert, and the teacher Georg Hasche (1890–1960), graduated from high school in Chemnitz in 1940 . After completing his labor service , he studied medicine in Leipzig , Prague , Halle and Greifswald from 1940 to 1948 , interrupted by military service as a field doctor . After completing his doctorate in Greifswald in 1948 with "summa cum laude", the first surgical training followed with Walter Hartmann (1905–1980) in Forst (Lausitz) . His former teacher Willi Felix (1892–1962) from Greifswald brought Hasche to the Charité Surgical Clinic in Berlin in 1950 , where he soon became a senior physician and lecturer.

1956 followed the habilitation on the problem of the pleural empty space after lung resection . Hasche specialized in pulmonary surgery and in 1957 was appointed chief physician to the new Bad Berka Central Clinic for lung diseases and tuberculosis by Adolf Tegtmeier , where he established modern cardiac surgery as one of five centers in the GDR .

In 1960, Hasche was appointed professor with a teaching position in the field of surgery at the Humboldt University in Berlin , parallel to his work as head physician in Bad Berka (until 1972). In 1965 he became an Honored Doctor of the People and in the same year a member of the German Society of Natural Scientists "Leopoldina" in Halle.

In Bad Berka a path was named with Eberhard Hasche's name. His scientific and literary work comprises 67 publications and 80 lectures.

Hasche was married and had three children.
