Eberhard Heinrich Zeidler

Eberhard Heinrich Zeidler , OC , O.Ont (born January 11, 1926 in Braunsdorf ) is a German- Canadian architect .

Life

Zeidler studied at the Bauhaus subsequent Academy of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar and at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . After the Second World War , he first worked with his former professor Emanuel Lindner .

In 1951 he emigrated to Canada and in 1954 became a partner in the Blackwell & Craig architectural firm in Peterborough (Ontario), which had been established in 1880 . In 1963 the company moved to Toronto as Craig, Zeidler & Strong . As a Zeidler Partnership , it now also has offices in Washington DC , Florida , London and Berlin . The office primarily builds large structures such as hotels, hospitals and buildings for culture and science. In recent times, numerous high-rise buildings have been built.

In 1984 Zeidler was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada . He also received the Order of Ontario and a 1986 medal from the Royal Canadian Architecture Institute . He continues to work in an advisory capacity (2007) for the Zeidler Partnership , which is now run by Vaidila Banelis .
