Eberhard Witte
Eberhard Witte (born January 3, 1928 in Beelitz ; † December 11, 2016 ) was a German economist .
Life
Eberhard Witte attended the elementary school in Beelitz and the grammar school in Potsdam. In 1944/45 he was an air force helper, from 1945 to 1948 in Soviet captivity. He studied business administration at the Free University of Berlin , became a business graduate and scientific assistant in 1951 and received his doctorate in 1955. rer. pole. From 1956 to 1962 he was a lecturer at the Academy for Community Economy in Hamburg. In 1962 he qualified as a professor at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on The Liquidity Policy of the Company and received offers from the universities of Mannheim and Saarbrücken . From 1962 to 1970 he taught at the University of Mannheim. In 1970 he received offers from the Universities of Bochum , Freiburg im Breisgau and Munich and followed the call to Munich. Visiting professor in the USA 1971/72. Retired in 1996.
The focus of his scientific work was the organization of the company, decision-making processes, corporate governance and methods of empirical research. In addition, he dealt with questions of telecommunications, media policy, privatization as well as regulation and competition.
In the late 1960s he developed the power and specialist promoter model . He was also the editor of book series and a member of the board of trustees.
Witte was married and had two daughters.

- 1975–1982 coordinator of the priority program "Empirical Decision Theory" of the German Research Foundation (DFG)
- 1970 Chair of Business Administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich
On behalf of the German Federal Government, head of the following commissions for the liberalization of telecommunications:
- 1973–1976 Commission for the expansion of the technical communication system (KtK)
- 1985–1987 Government Commission Telecommunications (Postal Reform I)
- 1990–1998 Research Commission for Regulation and Competition (Amendment to the Basic Law and Telecommunications Act)
- 1994–1997 Expert Commission Information Network Berlin-Bonn (IVBB) at the Federal Ministry of the Interior
- 1995 Member of the Council for Research, Technology and Innovation at the Federal Chancellor
On behalf of the Bavarian State Government:
- 1980–1987 head of the project commission for the Munich cable pilot project for the liberalization of radio and television
Other mandates:
- 1983–1990: Member of the newly established advisory board of the non-profit Bertelsmann Foundation
