Eckart Stratenschulte

Eckart D. Stratenschulte (born January 14, 1952 in Heidelberg ) is a German political scientist.

Life

After graduating from high school in Gießen in 1970 , he studied political science , sociology and German at the Philipps University in Marburg . There he passed his diploma in sociology in 1975 and the first state examination in 1976 for teaching at grammar schools for the subjects of German and politics. In 1978 Stratenschulte in Marburg was awarded a doctorate degree for a thesis on intermediate social groupings in the Federal Republic of Germany. phil. PhD.

From 1978 on he was a lecturer at the Institute for Inter-European Studies in Berlin, which he took over as head in 1982. In 1989 he moved to the Berlin Senate Chancellery as head of the film, radio and television division , where he accompanied the process of the opening of the Wall and the capital city of Berlin. From 1993 to 2017 Stratenschulte headed the European Academy Berlin . From 1999 he taught political science (Eastern European Institute) at the Free University of Berlin , which appointed him honorary professor in 2005. Stratenschulte is a member of the Presidium of the European Integration Working Group , the association of German European scientists. He writes regularly for newspapers and magazines and has published several books, most of which deal with Europe or Berlin.

He has been a member of the board of the German National Foundation since 2016 and its managing director from 2018 to 2019.

Eckart D. Stratenschulte is an honorary doctorate from the University of Kiev and has received awards from Romania (2000: Commander of the Order of Faithfulness ) and the Republic of Lithuania. He is a second married man and has two grown daughters.

Esperanto critic

Stratenschulte is a critic of the planned language Esperanto . He described Esperanto on the website of the Federal Agency for Civic Education 2010 as a pure verbalization of pictograms .
