The inland tanker Ecoliner is the first ship of the newly developed Damen Ecoliner 1145 type of the Damen Group in Hardinxveld and Millingen am Rhein ( Bodewes Shipyards ). It is suitable for the transport of toxic and particularly dangerous chemicals and oil products (type C ship) and is operated with liquefied natural gas (LNG). The new air-lubricated (ACES-Air Chamber Energy Saving) hull was built by Santierul Naval SA in Orsova and, after being transported from the Danube to the Netherlands, expanded in the Asto shipyard in Raamsdonkveer under the supervision of the Damen Shipyards Group .

Construction and technology

The ship is a double hull construction with ten cargo tanks and a novel bow and stern shape. It is driven by two Axco 500-XALS-340-T1100 electric motors that work on two propellers with Damen Optima nozzles with a diameter of 1516 mm. In front of the propellers, there are hydraulically extendable flaps on the hull, which improve the flow when the water level is low ( flex tunnel ). The electricity for the engines is generated by four Scania gas engine sets (gensets), each with an output of 285 kW. A Veth VSG-1200L bow thruster with 350 kW power is installed in the bow. By combining the type of propulsion, air lubrication, flex tunnel and modified hull shape, fuel savings of up to 25 percent are possible. The four gas engines, which are set up in two separate machine rooms, are switched on or off electronically depending on the load. Behind the apartment (roof), which is partly embedded in the fuselage, there are two cryogenic gas tanks with a capacity of 43.5 m³. Only LNG is used as fuel on the ship. The engine rooms are equipped with chemical extinguishing systems. An organic fluorine compound (trade name Novec 1230 from 3M) is used as the extinguishing agent .

Apartments

The two apartments, front and aft, each have three bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom with toilet and a lounge. The wheelhouse is fully retractable. The apartments and the wheelhouse are pressurized to prevent the ingress of gases and are air-conditioned.

Tanks

In addition to the two gas tanks and the eight cargo tanks, each with a volume of 373 m³, there is a fresh water tank with 14 m³, one lubricating oil and one waste oil tank each with 2 m³ and three ballast tanks with 100 m³ aft, 1390 m³ amidships and 120 m³ forward as well as two slop tanks for oil contaminated water) with 28 m³ content. Two loading / unloading pumps with a delivery rate of 500 m³ / h each are installed for loading and unloading.
