Edgar Gutbub
Edgar Gutbub (born September 11, 1940 in Mannheim ; † October 28, 2017 in Wuppertal ) was a German sculptor , installation artist and graphic artist .
Life
Gutbub studied from 1961 to 1963 at the Free Academy in Mannheim and from 1963 to 1969 sculpture at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin . In 1972 he won the Villa Romana Prize for a stay in Florence . From 1975 to 1976, a scholarship was awarded at the Arts Cité Internationale in Paris , another in 1981 by the hand Hollow Foundation of George Rickey and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in East Chatham in New York State .
In 1995 Gutbub took part in the German-Dutch sculpture symposium of the Aurich Art Association in Aurich , in 2006 in the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg in the exhibition The Century of Modern Sculpture and in 2009 in the Ludwigsburg Art Triennial “Ausserdem” in Ludwigsburg .
He was visiting professor from 1990 to 1991 at the Braunschweig University of Art and from 1994 to 1995 at the Offenbach University of Art and Design in Offenbach am Main .
Gutbub was a member of the German Association of Artists . Gutbub has lived and worked in Wuppertal since 2008. In 2009 he was accepted into the Ingolstadt Foundation for Concrete Art and Design.

Gutbub's works, mostly made up of simple geometric elements, can be assigned to concrete art and aim at a heightened perception of size and direction.
