Edgar Sander

Edgar Sander (born March 4, 1895 or 1896 in Leipzig , German Empire , † after 1951) was a German businessman and politician in South West Africa , today's Namibia .

Sander emigrated to South West Africa in 1923. He mainly worked as a farmer and exported karakul skins . In addition, Sander was director of the United Building Society for SWA and from 1940 a member of the South West African Legislative Assembly . In 1937 he was a co-founder of the German Southwest Federation (DSWB). Sander was mayor of Windhoek , today's capital of Namibia , from 1938 to 1941 and again from 1949 to 1951 .
