Joachim Bernhard Hermann von Prittwitz and Gaffron , called Pix von Prittwitz , (born June 7, 1929 in Windhoek , Namibia ; † August 28, 2013 in Swakopmund ) was a Namibian politician and businessman.

family

Joachim Bernhard Hermann von Prittwitz and Gaffron came from the Silesian noble family Prittwitz . He was the son of Joachim Bernard Paul Ewald Alexander von Prittwitz and Gaffron (1876–1952) and was born in the Elisabeth House in Windhoek.

On April 14, 1954 he married Hannelore Martha Prittwitz and Gaffron, b. Woratz († 2010); the marriage resulted in two children.

Life

Joachim Bernhard was trained in the cadet corps in Schloss Bischofstein in Thuringia and completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the Hamburg Engineering School. He worked as an entrepreneur for Triplejay Equipment in the vehicle and spare parts trade.

He was Mayor of Windhoek in Namibia from 1969 to 1971. He was previously Windhoek Town Councilor from 1964 to 1970.

He was president of the Windhoek Carnival several times (1963–1965, 1968, 1973–1974). As Pix von Prittwitz , he was the last of the aristocracies at the 9th Windhoek Carnival in 1961. He was an honorary senator of the Windhoek Carnival .

He was Chairman of the Windhoek Motor Club and was President of the Ramblers Club and the Kalahari Yacht Club . He was a member of the supervisory board of the German Higher Private School (DHPS) . He was a member of the Rotary Club, AA Namibia and the Namibian-German Foundation. He was honorary president of the German-Namibian Development Society (DNEG / GNDS).
