Edmund Collins
Edmund John Patrick Collins MSC (born March 22, 1931 in Braidwood , New South Wales , Australia - † August 8, 2014 in Sydney ) was Bishop of Darwin .
Life
Edmund Collins joined the Sacred Heart Missionaries and was ordained a priest on July 20, 1963 by the Archbishop of Sydney , Norman Thomas Cardinal Gilroy .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Darwin on April 28, 1986 . The Archbishop of Adelaide , Leonard Faulkner , donated him episcopal ordination on July 3 of the same year; Co-consecrators were Edward Francis Kelly MSC, Bishop of Toowoomba , and Eugene James Cuskelly MSC, Auxiliary Bishop in Brisbane .
On July 3, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
