Edmund Dillinger (born August 2, 1935 in Friedrichsthal ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman, prelate and canon of honor .

Life

Edmund Dillinger studied Catholic theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Trier Theological Faculty . He wrote his diploma thesis in canon law on the subject of the marriage nullity processes of the Sacra Romana Rota , with special attention to the Can. 209 CIC 1917 Supplet Ecclesia in errore communi .

He was ordained a priest in Trier Cathedral on March 18, 1961 by Bishop Matthias Wehr . At first he worked in pastoral care in Saarbrücken , Saarlouis and Bitburg , and then studied history and social sciences at the University of Cologne .

From 1966 to 1999 he was in the state school service, with the longest time at the Max Planck Gymnasium in Saarlouis. Cardinal Joseph Höffner appointed him as a lecturer at the religious education institute of the Archdiocese of Cologne from 1970 to 1979 .

From 1999 to 2001, during the Holy Year, he was engaged in pastoral care in the German pilgrimage center in Rome ( Via della Conciliazione 51) and still lives in the procuration of the Syrian-Antiochene Patriarchate in Rome.

Honorary positions and association work

Since 1958 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Vindelicia Munich as well as the KDStV Rappoltstein (Strasbourg) Cologne, the KDStV Staufia Bonn , the CV connection Rheno-Palatia Breslau to Mainz , the KDStV Churtrier Trier, whose founder and first senior he is KDStV Merowingia Kaiserslautern , the KDStV Alemannia Greifswald and Münster and the KAV Capitolina Rome , all in the Cartellverband of the Catholic German student associations . From 1970 to 1982 he was the federal minister of this Cartell Association. In 1972 he founded CV-Afrika-Hilfe e. V., an aid organization for social projects in Africa , and was its chairman until 2005. Protectors of CV-Afrika-Hilfe e. V. were previously Franz Cardinal Hengsbach and later Auxiliary Bishop Klaus Dick .

Dillinger is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Forum of German Catholics . He is currently a member of the Initiative Group of Catholic Priests in Germany and a member of the Marian Priestly Cenacle.

Honors

For his work in African development aid in Cameroon , Togo , Burkina Faso , Ghana and Liberia (e.g. setting up leprosy stations, children's homes and hospitals), he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 1976. The award was presented to him in the Saarland State Chancellery in Saarbrücken by the then Prime Minister Franz-Josef Röder in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon as well as the Togolese Archbishop of Lomé Robert-Casimir Dosseh-Anyron and the Cameroonian Bishop of Mbalmayo Paul Etoga . During his work stays in Cameroon he fell ill with malaria, which necessitated two long hospital stays.

In 1986 Edmund Dillinger was named Dome of Honor of Mbalmayo Cathedral in Cameroon . Since 1995 Dillinger has been Prefect of the Brotherhood of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul . He was appointed Prelate of the Order of the Byzantine Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Maximos V. Hakim , Patriarch of Antioch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church .
