Edmund Stauffer

Edmund Stauffer (born August 9, 1925 in Neusorg im Fichtelgebirge ; † November 24, 2013 in Kemnath , Upper Palatinate ) was a German Catholic prelate and dean of Regensburg Cathedral .

Life

Edmund Stauffer was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1943. After serving on the Eastern Front , he was later taken prisoner by the US in the West . After his release in September 1945, he entered the Regensburg seminary and studied theology and philosophy. On June 29, 1950, he and 49 alumni were ordained priest by Bishop Michael Buchberger in Regensburg Cathedral . He was a chaplain in Schönwald and a cooperator in Marktredwitz, then from 1952 on a part-time basis, from 1956 to 1967 full-time religion teacher at the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Marktredwitz and at the same time youth minister. Bishop Rudolf Graber made him head of the pastoral office in the Ordinariate of Regensburg.

In 1971 he became the first school clerk of the diocese of Regensburg with responsibility for schools, colleges and universities. 1974 Edmund Stauffer became chairman of the conference of the heads of the school departments of the dioceses in the whole Federal Republic. In addition, he took over the management of the office of the textbook commission of the German Bishops' Conference , which was based in Regensburg.

Stauffer was cathedral chapter and member of the Regensburg cathedral chapter since 1972 ; from 1991 to 1995 he was dean of the Regensburg cathedral chapter. He held several supervisory board and foundation board mandates, including since 1972 at the Bischofshof / Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg brewery , its supervisory board chairman from 1975 to 1993. He was a member of the foundation board of trustees (foundation board) of the foundation of the church music school in Regensburg. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Regensburger Domspatzen . He was involved as a tour guide in the Holy Land . After his retirement in 1995 he was a commorant (assistant priest) in the monastery of Sankt Emmeram ; from 2010 he lived in his hometown in Kemnath in Upper Palatinate.

In 1977 Stauffer was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg and invested in Munich on December 3, 1977 by Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Most recently he was Commander of the Order.
