Edmund von Weber

Edmund von Weber (born June 19, 1766 in Hildesheim , † December 1830 in Würzburg ) was a German composer , actor , singer and theater director.

Life

Edmund von Weber was the son of the German musician Franz Anton von Weber and his first wife Maria Anna Catharina Antonetta. The composer Carl Maria von Weber was his half-brother. Weber was married three times, first with Josepha Kronheim, second with Louise Spitzeder in 1797 and probably with Therese Mack in third marriage in 1808. He received his musical training from his father, with whom he moved to Eutin , where he then worked as an orchestral musician. He traveled via Berlin , Dresden , Prague and Vienna to Eszterháza , where he was a student of Joseph Haydn from 1787 to 1788 . He was an actor in traveling theater companies, including Carl Döbbelin in Frankfurt / Oder, Stendal and in 1789 in Magdeburg . In 1797 he was music director at the Salzburg court theater and from 1806 to 1808 he was director of his own theater company in Amberg, Ansbach , Karlsbad and Bayreuth . From 1812 to 1819 he worked as music director in Bern , Königsberg, Cologne and from 1824 to 1826 in Aachen . With his daughter he went to Detmold and Würzburg as a double bass player .
