Eduard Faber (engineer)

Eduard Faber (born October 3, 1853 in Meckenheim , † May 2, 1930 in Munich ) was a German hydraulic engineer and university professor .

Life

From 1873 he studied at the Technical University in Munich . In 1877 he entered the royal Bavarian civil service at the Road and River Construction Office in Speyer. From 1886 to 1889 he was employed at the Bavarian Central Office for Hydrography and Metreology in Karlsruhe . From 1890 he worked at the road and river construction authorities in Würzburg , Traunstein and Rosenheim . In the meantime, he headed the technical office of the association for the improvement of river and canal shipping in Bavaria , creating the basis for the construction of the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal . In 1908 Faber was appointed to the Supreme Building Authority of the Ministry of the Interior. In 1918 he retired . Faber dealt primarily with the structural treatment of bed load-carrying rivers. He has also made great contributions to the expansion of the waterways in Bavaria and its neighboring countries. The Technical University of Dresden in 1920 and the University of Erlangen awarded him an honorary doctorate a little later for his achievements . He was buried in Speyer. He had dealt intensively with bed load hydraulics and river engineering . Later he devoted himself to his work on the use of water power and in his designs for shipping lanes.
