Eduard Hypocrite

Johann Eduard Heuchler (born December 31, 1801 in Freiberg ; † January 19, 1879 there ) was a German architect and university professor .

Hypocrite came from a poor family. His first professional positions took him to the ore mines of his hometown as a coiler servant , divider boy and breaker. In 1819/1820 he was a mountain boy on ascension treasure trove . He also attended the Freiberg mountain school. There you saw his talent. The then Saxon Deputy Mining Captain August von Herder was one of Heuchler's supporters.

With a state scholarship , Heuchler was able to study at the Bergakademie Freiberg from 1820 to 1823 . He then completed a four-year additional course in building sciences in Dresden and at the Weinbrenner Institute in Karlsruhe . The course included extensive stays abroad, including in Italy , France , Belgium and the Netherlands .

In 1827, Heuchler returned to Germany and initially took on the position of drawing teacher at the mountain school in his hometown. From 1829 he was a teacher for drawing and civil engineering at the Bergakademie Freiberg. From 1844 to 1873 he held the professorship for civil engineering, geometry, freehand and machine drawing. Heuchler died in Freiberg in 1879 and was buried in the Donatsfriedhof .
