Watercolor handwritten dated and signed by Witte : “ Hanover June 11, 1853”; Railway saloon car for King George V of Hanover

Eduard Julius Hugo Witte was born during the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover at the time of the Electorate of Braunschweig-Lüneburg in 1810, in the middle of the so-called " French era ".

After the elevation to the Kingdom of Hanover , Witte joined the Hanover Army . In 1853 he designed a "railway saloon car" especially for his sovereign, King George V of Hanover .

By 1858 at the latest, "EJH Witte" was a member of the Architects and Engineers' Association for the Kingdom of Hanover and as " Major a. D. Board of the coach construction of the railway administration to Hanover ”. However, he was out of service with the rank of lieutenant colonel prior to 1860 . Around 1860 he was appointed "castle captain of the royal Marienburg". Soon afterwards, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance under Eduard von Kielmannsegge , Theodor Wilhelm Brüel , also a member of the Hanover State Council and the commission at Marienburg Castle, made serious statements against Witte: Witte, who was employed as the auditor of the Marienburg building fund, had building funds for several years suppressed and at the same time forced various construction managers of the palace to "use cheaper building materials", but above all plaster instead of the actually intended "real" ironwood , which the architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase apparently had no knowledge of.
