Eduard Sigismund Loebell
Eduard Sigismund Loebell (also Löbell ; born March 22, 1791 in Langfuhr , † April 19, 1869 in Marburg ) was a German law scholar and university professor .
Life
Loebell was the son of a Danzig city surgeon. Equipped with excellent credentials, he began studying law and philology at the University of Halle , where on February 29, 1812 he wrote his dissertation Observationes ad Paulli Rec. Sent. lib. III. tit. VI §§ 3 B et 7 for Dr. jur. received his doctorate . From the summer semester of 1812, he worked as a private lecturer in Roman civil law at the University of Marburg . Due to the low income he was also prefectural councilor in Marburg from the summer of 1813.
Loebell received an extraordinary professorship on June 2, 1815 , and a full professorship in law on March 27, 1818 at the University of Marburg. In 1834 he was commissioned with the business of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Marburg due to an upcoming revision of the official business of the Vice Chancellor . Between 1828 and 1861 he was dean of the law faculty a total of eleven times and between 1822 and 1834 he was twice rector and three times prorector of the university. On January 19, 1843, he was appointed vice chancellor of the university.
On April 1, 1835, Lobell was appointed Senior Appealer in the Criminal Senate of the Higher Appeal Court in Kassel , but was released from this position in July 1835 and was therefore not active as such. In the years 1851, 1852, 1855, 1858 and 1860 he was a member of the first Chamber of Estates of the Kurhessischen Estates Assembly , in 1864 then a member of the second Chamber of Estates for the city of Marburg.
Honors
Loebell received an honorary doctorate ( Dr. phil. Hc ) from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Marburg in 1868 on the occasion of the anniversary of his full professorship . In addition, from March 27, 1868, he carried the title of a Privy Council of Justice . In addition, he was the holder of the Royal Prussian Crown Order II. Class and Commander II. Class of the Electorate of Hesse Wilhelm Order .
