Eduard Wagner (politician)

Friedrich Eduard Wagner (born October 16, 1868 in Meerane , † December 4, 1943 in Wurzen ) was a lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Wagner attended the community school in Meerane, the grammar school in Zwickau and the Wettiner grammar school in Dresden as well as the University of Leipzig . During his studies he became a member of the Association of German Students in Leipzig . From August 1, 1891 he was a trainee lawyer and Dr. jur., from October 1, 1891 to September 30, 1892 one-year volunteer in the 9th Royal Saxon Infantry Regiment No. 133 and then he was first lieutenant of the Landwehr infantry and holder of the Landwehr Service Award II. Until December 31, 1896 he trainee lawyer in Dresden, Lößnitz , Wolkenstein , Penig , Plauen and again Dresden. From January 1, 1897 to March 31, 1898, he was an assessor at the Leipzig district court , from April 1, 1898 to December 31, 1899, assessor at the Waldheim district court , from January 1 to March 31, 1900 assessor at the Dresden district court, from April 1st 1900 to March 31, 1904 district judge in Radeberg , from April 1, 1904 to December 31, 1904 district judge and assistant judge at the higher regional court in Dresden and since January 1, 1905 regional judge at the Dresden regional court. From 1919 to 1925 Wagner was President of the Zwickau Regional Court and of the Leipzig Regional Court from 1926 to 1934 .

From his youth he was politically active. As a student in Leipzig in the spring of 1891, he made the first suggestion to pay homage to all German universities before Bismarck in Kissingen . He was also a board member of numerous national associations and clubs, the Conservative State Association and the Conservative Association in Dresden, and a deputy member of the medical honorary council for the Dresden district team . He ran for the first time for the Reichstag in 1903 as a candidate for all national parties in the 4th Saxon constituency, but was defeated by the Social Democrats.

From 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the German Conservative Party for the constituency Kingdom of Saxony 9 Freiberg , Hainichen . After the First World War he joined the DNVP and in 1919 became a member and secretary of the Saxon People's Chamber . Between 1920 and 1922 he was Vice President of the Saxon State Parliament and again a member from 1926 to 1929. In 1922 he spoke out in the state parliament against declaring May 1st and November 9th as public holidays in Saxony.
