Eduard Michael , from 1862 by Michael , (born January 6, 1805 in Sachsa , † February 19, 1874 in Sondershausen ) was a German forester .

Life

Michael graduated from the Nordhausen high school and then the Clausthal mining academy until 1823 . He came into the Schwarzburg-Sondershaus forest service, where he remained until his death in 1874. A short time after his entry he was appointed to the forestry council and in 1836 was given responsibility for the entire forest management system. On January 22, 1838, he was promoted to the chief forestry council, on January 8, 1850 to the lecturing council in the ministry, where he was given the management of forestry. In 1855 he was also entrusted with the management of the entire national survey . On October 2, 1862, he finally rose to the rank of department head in the ministry. In addition, he was president of the Thuringian Forest Association for many years until 1872 and endeavored to publish it.

Michael promoted land surveying in the principality and fundamentally reformed the forestry system. He also passed on his experience to various foreign interns. Central aspects were the development of the forests through a network of paths, the creation of the forests according to a half-timbered method and the reduction of the game population. The economic plans drawn up by him were in use until the First World War .
