Eduardo Davino

Eduardo Davino (born August 6, 1929 in Naples , Italy , † January 20, 2011 in Rome ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Palestrina in Italy.

Life

Eduardo Davino entered the seminary in Naples in 1945 and was ordained priest on July 27, 1952 by Alfonso Castaldo , coadjutor archbishop in Naples , in the Basilica of Santa Restituta . After additional studies in theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum in Rome, he completed a doctoral degree in law in Naples. He also worked as a lecturer at the theological faculty in Naples and in ecclesiastical courts in Campania. In 1972 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. Appointed to the Roman Rota .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ariano Irpino-Lacedonia in 1993 . He received his episcopal ordination on October 9, 1993, the Archbishop of Naples , Michele Cardinal Giordano ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Carlo Furno , Apostolic Nuncio in Italy, and Filippo Giannini , Auxiliary Bishop in Rome .

In 1997 Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of the suburbicarian diocese of Palestrina ; he continued his collaboration with the departments of the Roman Curia. During his tenure, parts of the territory of the Territorial Abbey of Subiaco were incorporated. Eduardo Davino was consultor of the Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legal Texts .

His resignation was granted in 2005 by John Paul II.

He died after a long illness and was buried in the Cathedral of Palestrina.
