Eduardo M. Brochero

Eduardo Manzanos Brochero (born November 10, 1919 in Madrid , † October 16, 1987 there ) was a Spanish film producer , screenwriter and director .

Life

Manzanos began his artistic career after the Spanish Civil War as a publisher of poetry collections and pieces, a. a. with Jose García Nieto and Antonio de Lara Gavilán . In 1947 he turned to film production; his first film was Luis Arroyos Dulcinea . He scripted two films in the following years ( "Brindis has Manolete" by Florián Rey and "Gente sin importancia" by José González de Ubieta ). In 1952 he directed for the first time ("Cabaret" with Fernando Rey ).

In 1954, after directing another film, he founded his production company Unión Films and continued to work as a director. Soon he financed co-productions with Italian companies, which were quite successful. With the successor company Copercines Producciónes , he was one of the first to have spaghetti westerns made in Spain (near Madrid); he stayed true to the westerns to the end. In addition to this genre product , however, political films such as “Proceso de Gibraltar” from 1967 were also made.

His activities in the 1970s were extensive; In addition to his previous endeavors, he now worked for television. In 1982 he retired. His filmography includes over forty films as a producer, over fifty as a screenwriter and fourteen as a director.

Brochero was married to the actress María Luz Galicia .
