Edwin Gräupl
Edwin Gräupl (* 1941 in Villach , Carinthia ) is an Austrian educator. He was state school inspector for higher schools in the state of Salzburg and governor for Austria of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
Life
Edwin Gräupl is the son of the educator Karl Ludwig Gräupl and Emma born. Kroell. Since 1975 he has been married to Rita geb. Wolfartsberger; the marriage has two children.
After studying mathematics and physics at the University of Innsbruck from 1959 to 1964, he first taught at the Academic Gymnasium Salzburg , then in 1981 he was appointed professor of mathematics at the Pedagogical Academy ( Pedagogical University ) Salzburg. In 1983 he was appointed state school inspector for higher schools (grammar schools) in the state of Salzburg. He worked in the office until 2001.
He was involved in curriculum development and gifted education. As a part-time job, he was regional director in the Salzburg Youth Red Cross of the Austrian Red Cross and in the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, ie an employee in a Catholic aid organization for Israel, Palestine and Jordan.
Gräupl has published numerous writings.
Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem
Edwin Gräupl is involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 1990 he was appointed Knight of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Cardinal Caprio and invested in the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher by Alois Stöger on September 30, 1990 in Salzburg. He was the chief commander of the Salzburg commandery. Carlo Cardinal Furno appointed him governor of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in 2000, i.e. head of this organization in Austria (around 400 members). In this position, which he held until 2008, he founded the "Holy Land Commission" and thus particularly promoted kindergartens in Jordan. Help for Christians in the Gaza Strip was also organized sustainably through him. He has been Knight of the Grand Cross since 2001 and Honorary Governor of the Papal Laity Order since 2009.
His work was also recognized by national awards, such as the Great Silver Medal of Honor of the Republic of Austria in 2003, and international awards, such as the appointment as Grand Officer of the Papal Order of Gregory . Since 2016 he has been Accademico Benemerito of the Real Academia Sancti Ambrosii Martyris (Ferentino) and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (London).
