Karl Lengheimer (born August 24, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian administrative lawyer and politician ( ÖVP ). From 2000 to 2010 he was the Landtag director of the Landtag of Lower Austria . From 2008 to 2016 he was governor for Austria of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

Life

Karl Lengheimer graduated from the Catholic Schottengymnasium of the Benedictines in Vienna in 1964 . From 1964 to 1969 he studied law and from 1969 to 1972 political science at the University of Vienna . In 1969 he was promoted to Dr. iur and 1972 Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

In 1970 he joined the regional service of the federal state of Lower Austria as an administrative lawyer . In 1971/72 he was secretary at the Administrative Court. From 1981 to 2000 he was club director in the state parliament of the People's Party of Lower Austria (VPNÖ) . In 2000 he succeeded Ferdinand Krause as the Landtag director of the Landtag of Lower Austria . In 2010 Lengheimer retired and was succeeded by Thomas Obernosterer .

From June 30, 2003 to January 31, 2005, Lengheimer was a member of the Austria Convention , a political constitutional convention . There he was a member of Committee IX: Legal Protection, Jurisdiction and Committee III: State Institutions .

He has been a district councilor in Wieden , Vienna's fourth district , since 1973 . From 1987 to 1997 he was district chairman of Wieden. From 1983 to 1985 he was regional chairman of the Austrian Association of Tenants, Settlers and Apartment Owners (ÖMB) for Vienna.

He is married and has five children. He is a member of the K.St.V. Dürnstein Vienna in the Middle Schools Cartel Association (MKV) .

Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem

Karl Lengheimer is committed to numerous social projects and the Christians in the Holy Land . He is a member of the Austrian Community for the Holy Land. In 1991 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Caprio and invested by Alois Stöger , Grand Prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy . From 2000 to 2008 he was Chief Commander of St. Pölten. In 2008, Cardinal Grand Master John Patrick Foley appointed him Governor for Austria of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . In 2016, Andreas Leiner was appointed as his successor on January 1, 2017.
